
Add/Drop
Classes may be added or dropped during the Add/Drop period by using the
Add/Drop Form below. This period is the first two weeks
of class in the fall and spring semester or the third day of class in
the summer.
During the first week of class in the Fall and Spring semester;
students may add or drop classes without having special permission of
the instructor. During the second week of class, classes may only be added
with permission of the instructor.
The Instructor's signature is required
for the following situations:
- Freshmen or sophomores who wish to take 300 or 400 level classes.
- Consent of the Instructor is required.
- The Course is closed.
- Professional Semester courses
Students should have their advisors sign all add and drops.
In addition, Financial Aid approval is
required for the following situations
- The student is enrolled part time.
- The student is enrolled full time, and the add/drop drops the student
below full time.
- The student is enrolled full time and the add/drop changes overload
hours.
Finally, if the add/drop is for a summer course, the signature
of the business office is required.
Withdrawal
After the end of the second week of class in the fall and spring semester,
and after the third class day in the summer, students must withdraw from
classes using the Authorization to Withdraw from a Course
form below. All withdrawals require the signature of the coach, the instructor,
the advisors and financial aid.
If you are dropping all classes for the semester, this is
classified as a withdrawal from the university. In those cases, you will
use the Permission to Withdraw from all Classes form.
If you are withdrawing from all classes for personal or medical reasons
you may be eligible to apply for a leave of absence using the Leave
of Absence form below. This will allow you to interrupt your
enrollment and return to Dakota Wesleyan University within 180 days. In
accordance with college regulations, you will not need to reapply for
admission to the University; however, students wishing to enroll in the
nursing program will need to apply for admittance.
