Dakota Wesleyan University is offering online classes for current high school juniors or seniors who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and have recommendation from a high school principal or school counselor. Classes are taught by DWU faculty, are accredited and transferable.

Students should note that each institution of higher education applies its own credit evaluation policies in determining acceptability and applicability of courses. A completed “special student” registration form and official copy of your high school transcript are needed to register.

ID Numbers:
All DWU students are issued an ID number. This number will be mailed to you once your registration has been approved. Your User ID number is needed to login to TigerNet, our online course management system, for course access.

TigerNet Instructions:
TigerNet is located at https://tigernet.dwu.edu/ics. Or you can go to www.dwu.edu and click on the TigerNet link. In the "Login" area at the top of the page enter your DWU ID number as the User ID and the last four digits of your social security number as the password, then click "Sign In."

For protection of your personal information you should change your password once you have logged in. You can change this by clicking on “Personal Information” on the top bar.

E-Mail
All students taking DWU courses are issued a DWU e-mail address. All official college communication is done through the DWU e-mail. Your username and password will be sent to you once your registration is approved

Library
The DWU library offers online resources for distance courses. Information on accessing library databases, requesting library materials, as well as using the library catalog is available on the DWU website at www.dwu.edu/library/distancestudents.htm. Most databases require you to login. You will need to use your DWU network login for the username and password. Your username and password will be mailed to you with your TigerNet ID and DWU e-mail information.

FERPA
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their education records. For information on the DWU policy visit: www.dwu.edu/registrar/ferpa.htm.

ACADEMIC POLICIES

Add/Drop: Students may not attend class or receive credit unless they have registered before the end of the add/drop period and have finalized their registration with the business office. Registrations will not be accepted after the official ending of the add/drop period.

Students may add or drop a course through the fifth business day of the semester in the fall or spring semesters. Permission of the college dean, the student’s adviser and the instructor are required to add or drop a class from the sixth day through the tenth day of the semester. Adds or drops are not allowed following the tenth day of the semester. Students may drop courses during the add/drop period with no entry on their academic transcript.

Withdrawing from a class: Students may drop courses during the add/drop period with no entry on their academic transcript. From the beginning of the second calendar week, students who withdraw from a course are assigned a W (Withdraw). The withdrawal form is available at www.dwu.edu/registrar/add_drop.htm

Grades and Grade Point System:
The grading system at Dakota Wesleyan involves letter grades that are assigned a quality point value per hour of credit as follows:

All A, B, C, D and CR grades earn credit. These grades may be used in the student’s degree program and toward the total hours required for a degree depending on specific policies described in this catalog. The F grade does not earn credit but is computed into the GPA. All grades will be recorded on your transcript and become a part of your permanent record.

Transcript: Your transcript is your academic record of all courses taken, credits and grades earned, and grade point average. In order to get a copy of your official transcript you must make the request in writing to the registrar’s office.
