An official transcript is a copy of students' academic work printed on transcript paper with the Registrar's signature and an official university seal. Official transcripts are typically sent directly from the Registrar's Office to another institution or company. Unofficial transcripts are printed on plain paper and do not have the Registrar's signature or the University Seal. Any transcript that is faxed to another institution will usually be considered an unofficial transcript. If you have any questions about how the transcript should be delivered, you should check with the receiving institution. All requests for official and unofficial transcripts must be in writing, as required by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. This law requires that transcript requests bear the signature of the student. Therefore, we cannot honor email requests, phone requests or any request with an electronic signature. Transcript requests will not be processed if the student's account is not paid in full at the Business Office or it the student has a defaulted loan or past due Stafford (formally GSL) or Perkins (formally NDSL) loan.
