CONFERENCES AND LECTURES:   The following are regularly scheduled lectures through which DWU or other groups bring outside speakers to campus.  The purpose of these is to be of interest and service to area residents and leaders as well as DWU students.  You are invited to contact *University Relations for information or the *Dakotas Conference Office.  (*These links will take you out of the Rel-Phil web site.)

Dakotas Conference School of Mission (July)This summer conference is an opportunity to learn more about the mission of the church in the current world context.  Each session focuses on three areas: spiritual growth, geographic insights and general issues.

Opperman Distinguished Alumni Lecture Series - Each year Dakota Wesleyan University features a graduate who shares a message of service and sacrifice with another generation of students, staff, faculty and the community.  Contact: Pam Nielson-Boline, 995-2903; Jackie Davis, 995-2603

Family Life Conference (Oct) - This lecture series has been held at DWU since 1960 and is sponsored by the DWU Department of Sociology. Contact: George Nielson, 995-2624

Spiritual Care Conference -
The Dakotas Conference of the United Methodist Church and the DWU Department of Nursing co-sponsor this annual conference that focuses on issues related to caring for body, mind and spirit.  Contact: Gloria Thompson, 995-2889

Carhart Lectures in Natural Science
(Feb) - Each year outstanding scientists and mathematicians are invited to DWU to share their experiences and expertise.  Contact: Jim Lefferts, 995-2706

Stark Lectures
(March) - This lecture series brings persons who, by the authenticity of their own lives, works and insight demonstrate the connection today between faith and works.  Contact: Marv Miller 995-2632

Leadership Academy
(March) - The focus of these sessions is teaching laity and clergy how to be better Christian leaders in every aspect of life.
