Pre-Theology
MAJORS  |  SEMINARY EXPECTATIONS    |  PRACTICAL EXPERIENCES

MAJORS: There are two kinds of Rel-Phil Majors, depending on your previous experience in church work and your plans for seminary:

1) The Religion-Philosophy Major with Pre-Seminary Emphasis.
In addition to the basic major requirements, the following courses are especially useful for seminary preparation.

REL 250/450   Practicum in Church Work
REL 380   Classics in Christian Thought
REL 390   Contemporary Christian Thought
REL 461   Travel Seminar

2) The Religion-Philosophy Major, 3-3 Program
This program (see description) allows select non-traditional students to accelerate their college and seminary training time from 7 to 6 years, by counting the first year of seminary as the fourth year of the bachelor's program.

SEMINARY EXPECTATIONS:  While a great amount of variety is found in the requirements of various theological schools, the following is regarded by the American Association of Theological Schools as a list of fields in which the student should have proficiency before entering into seminary study. A suggested minimum degree is given in terms of semesters.

PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE: Your stay at DWU will also provide opportunities for growth in leadership through participation in the *Campus Ministry program, and through opportunities for church-related work through the "Practicum in Church Work" course. (REL 250, see Course Description)
