The Religion-Philosophy major at DWU will introduce
you to the two areas of knowledge which have dealt with questions
of meaning in life. Though they seem to differ in their approaches
from faith and from reason, they are not mutually exclusive but in
fact overlap and necessarily supplement one another. And so, we encourage
the dialogue between mind and soul.
The major categories in the quest are the areas of
meaning, religions, ethics, and scripture, and the twin concerns
of the department are that one is aware of the insights of those
who have preceded us as well as giving attention to how they apply
to areas of contemporary life. There are a minimum set of required
courses, supplemented by opportunities for choice of interest in
the electives.
