Are there other scholarships available for student support
services participants?
Yes.
The Omnibus Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2001 (P.L.
106-554) amended the
Student Support Services (SSS) Program to permit grant aid scholarships
to students. SSS students must meet ALL of the following eligibility
criteria:
- Current “active” participants in the Student Support
Services project
- Are in first two years of postsecondary education (3-4 yr students
considered based on fund availability)
- Federal Pell Grant recipient
- Minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average
Active participation includes utilizing and investing
in any combination of support services:
- Peer-Tutoring; individual, group, writing center
- Peer- Mentoring
- Personal Counseling
- Professional Mentoring
In addition to accessing the services listed above, the following
are required:
- Professional Mentoring; three
1:1 appointments with your SSS Success advisor per semester
- Educational and/or Cultural Events – attend three
events per semester. Your Success Advisor will provide you with a
copy of the events planned for this semester; they will also be listed
in our monthly SSS newsletter.
All SSS students who met the eligibility and participation criteria
noted above are automatically considered for this scholarship.
