Tutoring Rules

  • Attend Class! Students who are not regularly attending class are not eligible to receive tutoring. The tutoring sessions do not replace class.

  • Be Prepared! Tutors are not professors and do not have the responsibility to lecture you on material you haven’t read but rather help you gain an understanding of what you have read.

  • Tutors reserve the right to ask any unprepared student to leave and return once he/she is ready for tutoring.

  • Try to work assigned problems prior to the session. You will learn to solve problems quicker if you have tried to work them out before the tutoring session. This allows you the opportunity to ask questions.

  • Bring notes and handouts from class, as well as your book, to the tutoring sessions. A variety of material means a variety of avenues to explore and best understand the material.

  • Tutors do not do your homework!

  • Be prompt for your tutoring sessions and expect the same from your tutor.

  • Be courteous during your tutoring sessions and expect the same from your tutor.

*If a tutoring session must be rescheduled, the tutee or tutor must contact the other via exchanged contact information or contact Tutor Coordinator, Tina Hartley at 995-2797.
