Software
The TRiO Writing Center is open to all TRiO eligible students
and is intended to be a tool to teach students as they are guided through
the process of editing, citing and revision. The student and a Writing
Center Assistant will work together to make further grammar and citing
corrections/suggestions once the student has already proofread his/her
paper. This tutorial process will help the students become more familiar
with common writing errors and help them recognize and correct such
errors on their own.
The Writing Center staff provides the
following
-
Writing Workshops: (mini lessons on specific
problems)
-
Writing Tutorials: one-on-one sessions over
specific assignments
-
Research and documentation assistance in various
styles
-
MLA
-
APA
-
Chicago and/or Turabian

Mission Statement:
The TRiO Writing Center offers CRLA trained tutors who work with student
writers to promote good writing.
We discuss topics, suggest approaches, guide/focus the
writing, emphasize research and documentation for various levels of
writing, and generally work with students who have ideas but do not
always express them clearly.
The TRiO Writing Center helps students learn basic skills
to improve their writing style in order to fulfill the requirements
of their DWU classes.
