During the Fall 2005 semester, 72% of all DWU full-time faculty had placed
course materials on TigerNet, and two-thirds of all conventional, lecture
style courses (excluding performance-based courses, labs, student teaching,
independent study, etc.) had some form of TigerNet presence. These numbers
are likely to grow as TigerNet becomes more and more a part of the university
culture.
This section of the Instructional Technology web site is dedicated to
helping DWU faculty teach and students learn effectively in an online
environment.
How
to Teach Online
These pages are about online pedagogy - topics such as how to
use the Internet to promote learning at the higher levels of the cognitive
domain, managing online discussions, student assessment, and other topics
of special interest to faculty who want to use web-based activities to
promote higher order learning and critical thinking.
TigerNet
Guides for Faculty
Here, faculty will find detailed, illustrated instructions for getting
set up in TigerNet and using its course management system tools. Because
these guides incorporate screen shots of proprietary software, access
is limited to the DWU domain.
TigerNet
Guides for Students
These are corresponding guides to help students get set up in TigerNet
and use course management system tools. Access to these pages also is
restricted to the DWU domain.
TigerNet
FAQs for Faculty
Questions. We receive questions about TigerNet, lots of them. This
page provides answers to some of the Frequently Asked Questions that come
our way.
Support
for Faculty in Creating Learning Materials
How does a faculty member scan a document for use in a TigerNet course?
Narrate a PowerPoint presentation and reduce the file size? Scan a 35mm
slide? Capture an image from a screen or scanned document and annotate
it for student use? And where do you get assistance in doing these things?
