2004-2005 TLTR Meeting

Friday, August 20, 12-2 p.m., Education 107
- Topic: Organizational meeting
- Facilitator: Mike Albright
- Purpose: Identify outcomes for the DWU TLTR, identify
assets and barriers to successful implementation of technology
in teaching and learning, identify program priorities for 2004-05,
and select monthly meeting times. Read
the meeting summary for the Roundtable's findings and priorities.
Tuesday, September 28, 5-7 p.m., Knox Conference
Room
- Topic: Electronic portfolios
- Facilitators: Rocky Von Eye, Mike Albright
- Purpose: Explore what e-portfolios are and how they can
be used for assessment purposes. Demonstrate an e-portfolio
product currently under consideration for licensing by DWU, iWebfolio from
Nuventive. Discuss the issues and considerations in using
electronic portfolios on campus, and how these issues and considerations
can be addressed.
Tuesday, October 26, 5-7 p.m., Knox Conference

- Topic: What are we learning about online learning?
- Panelists: Anne Kelly, Lana Loken, Lori Bork, Laura Miller
- Purpose: Four faculty experienced in teaching online
will describe/demonstrate how they provide online learning experiences
to their students. Continue with an open discussion among
the panelists and audience about what works, what doesn't, and
what we are learning so far about teaching online.
Tuesday, November 30, 5-7 p.m., Knox Conference

- Topic: Open forum on New Ventures
- Facilitators: Don Watt, Amy Novak
- Purpose: President Duffett appointed the New Ventures
Task Force in October and charged the group with researching and
recommending new programs and majors, possibly to include new residential
and/or online programs as well as programs placed in other locations "anywhere
in the world where there are underserved populations who would
benefit from our type of education." Forum will begin
with an open discussion of the ideas already on the table for consideration
and will provide opportunities for the DWU community to share their
views and suggest additional possibilities.

- Topic: Student academic dishonesty
- Facilitators: Ken Novak, Jodie Barker, Mike Albright
- Purpose: General discussion of what forms of academic
dishonesty have been detected on campus, what are the faculty and
administrative options, and what strategies can be employed to
deter students from committing academic dishonesty.
Tuesday, March 15, 5-7 p.m., Knox Conference

- Topic: E-portfolios for departmental assessment
- Facilitator: Rocky Von Eye
- Purpose: How can we collect and organize evidence for
the upcoming accreditation visit by the NCA Higher Education Commission? Examples
of the use of iWebfolio in developing departmental portfolios will
be demonstrated and discussed. Use of department portfolios
to determine portfolio needs of students will also be explored.
Tuesday, April 5, 5-7 p.m., Education 107
- Topic: 2004-05 mini-grant recipient reports
- Presenters: Anne Kelly, Lana Loken, Elizabeth Hoffman
- Purpose: The three recipients of Title III Embedding
Technology mini-grants for 2004-05 will talk about their projects
and demonstrate the course web sites and materials they developed. They
will also discuss the processes followed in carrying out the projects.
