New Exhibit at Dakota Discovery Museum Features DWU Instructor
The Dakota Discovery Museum is pleased to announce it is hosting the exhibit “Sustenance” in the Gates Changing Gallery. The exhibit opens Saturday, Sept. 4, and will run through Oct. 23 at the Dakota Discovery Museum.

“Sustenance”features a collection of work inspired by the age-old process of weaving among the native mountain people of Nobsa, Colombia.

“My creative process is an illustration of the natural world and depicts a way of life in danger of extinction.  These drawings are a mere continuation of a Lexicographic record of the weaving process, from the shearing of the sheep to the making of the wool,” said artist Hilda Esperanza Langle.

A native of Colombia, Langle is a 2003 fine arts graduate of Dakota Wesleyan University and holds a 2009 master’s degree in Spanish linguistics with the Instituto Caro y Cuervo of Bogota, Colombia, and visual arts studies through the International Baccalaureate Organization, Latin America. Langle is also an adjunct instructor at DWU.

“Sustenance”will be on exhibit in the Gates Changing Gallery at the Dakota Discovery Museum on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University, 1300 McGovern Avenue. A free public exhibit reception will be held on Oct. 1.

Current museum hours are 9 a.m. – 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday; and 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on Sundays.  Admission is free to all DWU staff, faculty and students with a DWU I.D. Admission is charged to regular visitors.  For more information call (605) 996-2122, or visit www.dakotadiscovery.com.
