Smith Hall
Did your computer crash? Are you looking for Rocky (Dr.
Von Eye)? Want to chat with the president? Come to Smith Hall. It is home
to the president’s office, university relations, the computer Helpdesk,
the Kelley Center for Entrepreneurship, and offices of math, business,
English, languages and human services faculty. Smith Hall also has several
classrooms, the Case Conference Room and a computer lab. The music department
has also taken residence in Smith.
Originally known as New College Hall, Smith Hall was built
in 1956 after College Hall was destroyed by fire in 1955. Smith Hall is
named after former president and alumnus of DWU, Matthew D. Smith, and
his wife, Loretta. Smith graduated from Wesleyan in 1912 and served as
president from 1952-58.
