Family Tradition

Editor's Note

In this edition of Wesleyan Today, I hope you take the time to look closely at the photos of commencement 2001. The joy of the graduates, not to mention their families, is evident.

The families of our students are varied, but they have one thing in common: pride in their student, whether that student is a son or daughter, a mother, a grandchild or a more distant relative. We know some of this year's graduates are members of families with a tradition at Dakota Wesleyan University. Do you have a story like that?

For the fall edition of Wesleyan Today, we are planning to run a series of stories on family ties at DWU. In addition to the stories we have planned, we would like to run a list of people who have three or more family ties to Dakota Wesleyan. That is, at least three members of a family who have a connection to DWU, whether siblings; grandparent, child and grandchild; husband, wife and child(ren); aunt or uncle and nieces or nephews; cousins; or just about any configuration as long as you are related.

Send me your list of family members, including the graduation year, or expected graduation year of each person, and the relationship to one another. E-mail to loessig@dwu.edu, or mail to me at 1200 W. University Ave., Mitchell, SD 57301. To include your family ties in the fall publication, I'll need to receive your information by July 19, 2001.

We haven't tried to involve our readers in this way before, but if we hear from you this first time, rest assured that we will have more questions to ask you for future editions of Wesleyan Today. You are all a part of the Dakota Wesleyan University family, and we are interested in hearing from you!
