Sports - Fast facts

Women's Golf
The women's golf team won the 2002 Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship. It is the first conference championship in the history of the sport at DWU. Abbey DeWolf and Casey DeWolf were named to the All-GPAC team.

Volleyball
Pam Horner was named First Team All-GPAC and to the NAIA All-Region team. Molly Culhane received Second Team All-GPAC honors. Emily Overgaard was named as a GPAC Player-of-the-Week and to the honorable mention team at season's end. April Bach was named an NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete.

Football
David Flores was named First Team All-GPAC and to the NAIA Honorable Mention All-American team. He received GPAC Defensive Player-of-the-Week honors as well as being named the NAIA Defensive Player-of-the-Week and Don Hanson National Magazine Defensive Player-of-the-Week.

Anton Brintley was named First Team All-GPAC and Travis Olson was named to the Second Team All-GPAC. Osaro Kyles, Barry Schramm, Jesse Weins, John Donohue and Zeke Prado were named honorable mention on the All-GPAC team.

Ryan Evans, Caleb Walter and Jesse Weins were named to the Daktronics Academic All-America Team. Arin Boschee was named the GPAC Special Teams Player-of-the-Week, the NAIA Special Teams Player-of-the-Week and KDLT Athlete-of-the-Week.

Cross Country
Alan King was named to the All-GPAC and All-Region teams. Andrew Zoller was named as an NAIA Academic All-America honoree for the second consecutive year.

Women's Basketball
Victoria Drefs was named to the Innovative Systems/TeamMakers Basketball All-Classic Team and Randi Morgan was named the Innovative Systems/TeamMakers Basketball Classic Most Valuable Player.

Men's Basketball
Jacqson Collins was named to The Daily Republic/TeamMakers Basketball All-Classic Team and Patrick Murphy won The Daily Republic/TeamMakers Basketball Classic Slam Dunk Contest.

Indoor Track and Field
Men
Jamey Sperle became an automatic qualifier for the NAIA Indoor National Track and Field Championship. He set a state record in the 200-meter dash. Alan King, Matt Maxon, Robby Sorensen, Jeff Hruby and Daryl McNeil are all provisional qualifiers for the NAIA Indoor National Track and Field Championship.

Women
Krystal Schneider has become an automatic qualifier for the NAIA Indoor National Track and Field Championship. Kaylene Dozark is a provisional qualifier for the NAIA Indoor National Track and Field Championship.

Wrestling
Justin Portenier, Wes Fergen, Justin Hood and Adam Janecek have qualified for the NAIA National Wrestling Tournament held on March 7-8 in Billings, Mont.
