Constitution Day Speaker
12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Location: Sherman Center
In recognition of Constitution Day, Dakota Wesleyan University invites the community to campus for a special speaker.
South Dakota assistant attorney general, Kirsten Jasper, will be on campus Monday, Sept. 17, to help commemorate Constitution Day by giving the talk, “A Landmark Case: South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. and the U.S. Constitution.” This event will be from noon to 1 p.m. in the Sherman Center on campus and is free and open to the public.
“The South Dakota case was of historic significance because it, among other things, frees the states to charge taxes on internet sales,” explained Dr. Sean Flynn, history professor at DWU.
Flynn is working with colleagues John Husmann, history professor, and John Lang, the new director of the McGovern Center, to host the event.
Constitution Day is celebrated every Sept. 17 to mark the anniversary of the signing of the Constitution 231 years ago.
