Dakota Wesleyan University will dedicate its fifth building project in the last eight years when the ribbon is cut on the new School of Business, Innovation and Leadership on Thursday, Sept. 23. Located near the corner of Norway Avenue and Duff Street, the building contains a host of classrooms, labs and conference rooms designed specifically to encourage applied, experiential learning for students pursuing business-related careers, for those desiring further education and training in the areas of entrepreneurship and leadership and spaces that will be available for use by regional businesses for meetings, training and development activities.
Features of the building include a board room with seating for 150, including a nine-screen video wall; two large lecture halls; a business center; a media marketing lab; several labs, work centers and offices and the Kelley Center for Entrepreneurship.
Special features that visitors to the building will see include a mural depicting more than 130 years of the Women of Wesleyan, those who have used their education in diverse disciplines to find personal and professional success, and state-of-the-art video walls incorporating interactive technology.
The project is supported by funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
A dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. with tours and light refreshments, featuring locally sourced products, to follow. Several major donors to the project will be honored at the event.
