Dakota Wesleyan University has announced Carol Weiss and Christine Mauszycki as the winners of the Professional Excellence Awards for fall term.
Mauszycki, winner for the faculty award, is an assistant professor of accounting and business administration and began at DWU in 2010. Weiss, winner for the staff award, is an accounts receivable accountant and has been at Dakota Wesleyan since 1987.
Mauszycki is described as a great leader, both in her academic department and across the university, and combines high academic standards with a willingness to approach teaching and advising tasks with flexibility.
“She combines participation, consultation and delegation with a recognition of the need for coordination and decisions,” stated her nomination. “She exhibits openness to new ideas as well as the capacity to generate new ideas herself.”
Weiss’s work with students was recognized, as well as her positive attitude and personality.
“She always has a smile on her face and always makes time to chat with anyone,” stated her nomination. “She promotes a caring environment, a sense of being at home, and most important, she provides love. She is the definition of service to others and leadership.”
