Dakota Wesleyan University education majors are offering free art classes in February, open to ages preschool through fifth grade.
DWU students will host a two-day art class Feb. 8 and Feb. 15 which focuses on the elements of art. The classes will run from 6:15 p.m. to 7 p.m. each day at the Visual Arts Center located on campus on South Duff Street, just east of the Dakota Discovery Museum. The classes are separated into the following age groups: preschool, kindergarten-first grade, second-third grade, and fourth-fifth grade. The classes are free but limited to 10 students per group. Registration is due by Feb. 5 and registration forms can be requested by emailing DWU adjunct instructor Lacey Musick at email@example.com.
Parents of preschool through first grade are required to remain and participate with their children.
“Participants will explore art through a hands-on experience of creating a variety of projects that will cover the basic elements of art,” Musick said. “Each activity will be designed to meet the needs and expectations of each student at each level of learning.”
Some of the art projects may continue through both nights of art exploration, as well.
