Assistant Professor of Athletic Training and Head Athletic Trainer in the Athletic Training Program
Jarod Guthmiller, head athletic trainer and assistant professor of athletic training at DWU, joined the staff in 2005. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in athletic training with a concentration in sports medicine from Dakota Wesleyan University and his Master of Science degree in exercise physiology from Middle Tennessee State University. He is the coordinator of athletic training services for DWU athletics and is the main administrator for insurance claims, budget and inventory. He is the liaison with team physicians and the athletic department. In the fall of 2008, Guthmiller was promoted to faculty program director of the sport, exercise and wellness curriculum.
His primary athletic training coverage responsibilities include football and men’s basketball, while also acting as the primary contact for men’s and women’s track, and the men’s and women’s golf teams.
Guthmiller is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, the Mid-American Athletic Trainers’ Association and the South Dakota Athletic Trainers’ Association. He is also a member of the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
