Professor in the Department of Mathematics
Dr. Michael Farney, professor of mathematics, has been teaching at DWU since 1979. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees in physics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and California State College, San Jose. He earned his Ph.D. from Nova University, Davie, Florida. Farney teaches courses in physics, mathematics and astronomy. His current work beyond the classroom takes him to local school districts many times each year to encourage the young to become involved in scientific research, mathematics research and engineering, as he is also the director of the South Central South Dakota Science and Engineering Fair, held on the campus of DWU each spring.
