Military Students

Welcome, military personnel.

We are proud to welcome military students. You’ll find that when it comes to becoming a DWU student, we are flexible with our programs and procedures in a variety of areas, whether it is admissions, counseling, credit transfer, course articulations, recognition of nontraditional learning experiences, scheduling, course format and residency requirements.

Federal Education and SOC Benefits

We are approved for federal education benefits from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, as well as a member of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium. SOC, established in 1972, consists of national higher education associations and has approximately 1,900 institutional members.

SOC Consortium institutional members such as DWU subscribe to principles and criteria to ensure that quality academic programs are available to military students. This includes:

  • Active duty
  • Coast Guard personnel
  • Reservists
  • Members of the National Guard
  • Family members
  • Civilian employees of the Department of Defense
  • Veterans of all branches of the military

As an SOC consortium member, we ensure that servicemembers and their family members have the same accredited postsecondary educational opportunities that are available to other citizens.

Our flexibility is in place to help provide you and your family access to quality higher education programs. Please keep this flexibility in mind as you review our undergraduate admission requirements.
