Application Process by Program

Bachelor of Arts (Degree Completion)

To be eligible for admission, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Associate’s degree
  • No minimum GPA
    • Students with a GPA below 2.0 may need to provide additional information for review.

To apply to the Bachelor of Arts (degree completion) program, students must provide:

  • A completed online application
  • Official transcript from your associate’s degree-awarding institution. (Unofficial transcript will suffice for provisional admission, but official transcripts must be on file by end of first session.)

RN-Bachelor of Science in Nursing

To be eligible for admission, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Active, unencumbered RN license to practice nursing in the state of residence
  • An associate’s degree or diploma in nursing from an accredited nursing program
  • A cumulative GPA of 2.5 (conditional admit with GPA of 2.25-2.49)

These requirements must be met before students can participate in practice experiences.

  • Medical information requirements based on employment status as an RN
  • Current CPR certification (adult, child, infant, AED)
  • Completion of criminal background check

To apply to the RN-B.S. program, students must provide:

  • A completed online application
  • A copy of your active RN license from your Board of Nursing website
  • Official transcript from your associate’s degree-awarding institution. (Unofficial transcript will suffice for provisional admission, but officials must be on file by end of first session.)
RN-B.S. Transfer credits

Dakota Wesleyan University accepts and welcomes students from other accredited two- and four-year colleges and universities approved by the U.S. Department of Education. DWU will take into consideration and accept general education coursework that meets the following: 

  • Only up to nine (9) credit hours may be accepted.
  • These credits need to be upper level credits (MTH 200 equivalent is acceptable).
  • A grade of B or higher is required.
  • The DWU Registrar's office will evaluate an official transcript to ensure transferred credits meet one of the ADL courses or the related general education pillar.
  • The credit can be no older than 10 years.
  • A student without transfer credits will be required to take DWU ADL general education courses. The option for a student to take a general education course from a different institution, or DWU, while enrolled in the RN-B.S. online program will not be allowed.
  • All other catalog conditions for transfer credits must be followed.

Master of Arts in Education

To be eligible for admission, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.7.

  • An official transcript from your bachelor’s degree-awarding institution
  • A current resume
  • A personal statement of 300 to 500 words answering the following questions: Why do I want to pursue a Master of Arts degree in education from Dakota Wesleyan University? How do I plan to use what I learn to improve education for our next generation of students?

Master in Business Administration

To be eligible for admission, you must meet the following criteria:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • If your bachelor’s degree is not in a business-related field, you will have an opportunity to complete the required leveling courses through Peregrine Academic Services in order to meet the requirements for admission into the M.B.A. program. The program is self-paced and can be explained in further detail by an admissions counselor.
  • 2.75 GPA

  • A completed application. After you have completed the online application, we will contact you to explain how to complete the submission process.  You will be asked to provide:
  • An official transcript from your bachelor’s degree-awarding institution
  • Current resume
  • A personal statement of 300 to 500 words answering the following questions: Why do I want to pursue an M.B.A. from Dakota Wesleyan University? How can I expect to integrate good business ethics into my career?

Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Church Leadership

To be eligible you must currently be working as a Pastor or an Associate Pastor.

Graduate Certificate in Trust Management

Admission will be based on undergraduate performance, background check, application essay and application interview.

Previous coursework, such as Business Law 1, Business Law II, Business Ethics, and Understanding Wills, Trusts, and Estates, may be preferred but not required.
