DWU Sports Management Student Takes Part in Historic Event
Dakota Wesleyan University student Jordan Long became the first college student to participate in the National Basketball League of Canada Draft Combine. Jordan who is originally from Mitchell, S.D., along with DWU sports management director Darryl Greene, took a trip to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, in August to witness the birth of professional basketball in of Canada. Not only did Long have the opportunity to watch history in the making, he also played a key role in making the event a success. He had the opportunity to put NBL draft candidates through a series of drills, as well as coach the first-ever NBL draft combine all-star game. In addition to his time spent on the basketball floor, Jordan was the first to congratulate the players who were selected in the 2011 draft by handing them an official NBL of Canada cap as they approached the stage to shake hands with the commissioner of the league.
