“Bloomsbury’s Late Rose” dramatizes the remarkable life of Edwardian poet, Charlotte Mew. When they are young adults, Charlotte and her sister Anne make a pact to never marry for fear of passing on the schizophrenia that institutionalized their siblings. To achieve literary fame, Charlotte’s one ambition as a child besides motherhood, she would have to overcome genteel poverty, religious doubt, obsessive love and personal betrayal. Her journey will take her through the sunset of Queen Victoria’s reign, World War I and the dawning of a modern age - when Charlotte will confront the ultimate question: Would fame offer the personal redemption she had longed for her entire life?
