About DWU

Join us for the 2025 Opperman Lecture featuring Keith Becker as he reads from the biography he wrote about his great aunt, Gertrude Becker, DWU Class of 1917, based on her personal journals. The event will take place on Friday, October 24, at 11 a.m. in the Tiger Café at the McGovern Library. Free and open to all. You can attend in person or watch virtually at www.dwu.edu/live.

The Opperman Lecture series began in 1996 with an endowment by Dwight Opperman, who attended DWU in 1947-48. Opperman funded the lecture to bring distinguished alumni back to DWU to share their experiences with students.
