Lynn is largely responsible for the fact that SD recognizes both Martin Luther King’s birthday and Native Americans Day as statewide holidays. What is more interesting, Lynn is 1/2 African American and 1/2 Native American. His story is humorous and filled with genuine “God” moments. He’ll speak to us live via Zoom! John Dudley on “Naturalism and the African American Experience”: 4:00 pm
John Dudley’s talk “African American Naturalism” will focus on how the laws, customs, and traditions of the United States have historically placed barriers on African Americans’ lives and how these barriers manifest themselves in unique ways within the literary tradition of naturalism. The Story of Daryl Davis: 7:00 pm
Daryl Davis, an African American musician, befriended leaders in the Ku Klux Klan and through the gift of friendship, influenced them to renounce white racism.
