2015-2016 SNA Activities

FALL 2015

September 2015 – DWU Blue & White Days: nursing students took part in the homecoming parade, decorating a float for the parade with the theme “The ’70s.”

October 2015 – Nursing students assisted in giving flu shots during the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital flu clinic and the community (POD) flu shot clinic at the Corn Palace.

December 2015 – SNA nursing students decorated Christmas cookies and listened to Christmas music with residents at Wesley Acres and Countryside Living.


February 2016 – This year the state convention was hosted by Mount Marty College in Yankton, S.D., on Feb. 26-27. The theme was “Putting the Pieces of Nursing Together!”

March 2016 –Love Feast, First United Methodist Church, Mitchell: nursing students participated in preparing and serving the meal to the community.

April 2016 – Mitchell Chamber of Commerce Health and Wellness Fair, Mitchell Christian School: nursing students hosted the annual 5K/Mile Fun Run and assisted vendors at the fair.

May 2016 –The Great Wesleyan Giveback: several nursing students will go to Wesley Acres and help residents with cleaning projects.
Two students (Chelsea Kulm and Rachelle Steiner) will be participating in a mission trip. Rachelle Steiner will be going to Uganda, Africa, from May 10-25, and Chelsea Kulm will be going to Trujillo, Peru, from May 9-21.
