The fourth and final of the series, the annual Carhart Lecture, will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 28, at 7 p.m. in the School of Business, Innovation and Leadership, Room 117, on the DWU campus. Deb Wolf is the Director of Outreach and Culture for the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF), in Lead, S.D. In this role, Deb guides the Education, Communications, and the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center teams as they work to translate the world-leading underground science research into learning opportunities for students, teachers, and the general public.
Wolf’s lecture is entitled “SURF: Leading Innovations in Science and Education.”

Earlier in the day, Nicol Reiner, Director of Education and Outreach for SURF, will present the student lecture at 11 a.m. Her talk is entitled “A Mile Underground.”

The Carhart Lectures were endowed by DWU alumnus Homer Carhart ’36, whose engineering firm provided services to the armed forces for many years. Carhart served on the panel of experts who investigated the explosion aboard the spaceship Challenger.

The lecture is free and open to the public. It will also be livestreamed at dwu.edu/live. Check the DWU website events calendar or social media for updates.
