DWU McGovern Center to host Braver Angels event
Mitchell— The McGovern Center at Dakota Wesleyan University will host another event with the group Braver Angels as a community network partner. Braver Angels is a nation-wide depolarization agency which “brings Americans together to bridge the partisan divide and strengthen our democratic republic.” The discussion, scheduled for Thursday, Apr. 13, at 7 p.m., will address whether critical race theory should be taught in public schools. The event will be held in the School of Business, Innovation and Leadership in the Pratt Alumni Board Room, Room 117.
Braver Angels debate umpire Luke Phillips will be the moderator as he has been for two previous debate events.
According to McGovern Center director Joel Allen, “A Braver Angels discussion is a really fun and challenging experience. Students, faculty, staff, and community members are invited to participate. It is intense and incredibly rewarding all at once. What is even more amazing is that experiences like this build community, even as we discuss topics of intense disagreement.”
While registration isn’t necessary, it is helpful, especially if you want to make a statement for or against the resolution. To register, go to this link: CRT Debate.
The debate will also be livestreamed at dwu.edu/live.
