MITCHELL—The Dakota Wesleyan Ron and Sheilah Gates Department of Theatre will present “The Trail to Oregon: A Gen Y, Gen Z Musical.” Performances will be held Fridays and Saturdays, Nov. 7-8 and 14-15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, Nov. 9 and 16 at 2 p.m. in the Black Box Theatre inside the Dakota Discovery Museum.

"Trail to Oregon" is a humorous, interactive musical by StarKid Productions based on the classic Oregon Trail computer game. The show follows a dysfunctional pioneer family as they journey to Oregon, facing dangers like dysentery, bandits, and buffalo stampedes through a series of songs and absurd humor. A key feature is audience participation, where the audience helps name the characters, making each performance unique.

This show is recommended for mature audiences due to language and content.

Tickets are $12 general admission. Visit https://www.dwu.edu/events/details/185/Trail-to-Oregon-A-Gen-Y-Gen-Z-Musical for details.

Two other musical events are upcoming prior to the end of the fall semester. On Sunday, Nov. 9, Instructor of Instrumental Music Jason T. Laczkoski will perform a faculty recital at 4 p.m. in Sherman Center. The saxophonist has put together a program of “Simply Sonatas.” Admission is free.

Finally, the Christmas at Dakota Wesleyan concert will be held on Friday, Dec. 12, at 7 p.m., in the Sherman Center. Tickets will go on sale later in November.
