DWU to host first-ever high school esports tournament

DWU will host its first-ever esports tournament for interested high school students on Saturday, April 13.

Mitchell — Dakota Wesleyan University will host its first-ever esports tournament for interested high school students on Saturday, April 13. The tournament will be held in the DWU/Avera Sports and Wellness Complex. Check in is at 9 a.m. with play beginning at 10 a.m. An awards ceremony is scheduled for the conclusion of the tournament at approximately 9 p.m.

Games to be played are League of Legends, Overwatch 2 and Rocket League. The tournament will feature a rolling schedule.

Players may register with a high school team and/or as an individual player. Individual players must be in high school, 9-12 grade. Players should bring their own headsets, keyboards/mouse and/or controllers. Any player attending will automatically qualify for a $1,000 scholarship (in addition to any available esports scholarships) upon enrollment at DWU.
