Counseling Services
Change, even good change, can create or increase feelings of sadness, anxiousness, loneliness, doubt, or hopelessness. You may have concerns about relationships with your peers, family members, faculty, coaches, or staff. You might be struggling with self-confidence, adjusting to college life, missing home, or drug/alcohol use. Balancing schoolwork with additional activities such as work study, athletics, music, or campus clubs can be overwhelming. Dakota Wesleyan University provides counseling services for all full-time students during the academic school year.
All sessions are free of charge and completely confidential. Your clinical file is not a part of your academic records, and it is protected under HIPAA. For further information see: www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/understanding/consumers/noticepp.html
If you prefer, the campus counselor can provide referrals for licensed, outpatient therapists in the Mitchell community. Outpatient therapy services in the community are not covered by Dakota Wesleyan University; and therefore, at the student’s own expense.
