Dakota Wesleyan University’s Randi Christensen was named the 2019 South Dakota Athletic Trainer of the Year last night during the South Dakota Athletic Trainers’ Association honors and awards banquet.
Christensen is an assistant professor of athletic training at DWU and has been on staff since 2007. In addition to her work in the classroom, Christensen is the AT adviser for the DWU volleyball team and women’s basketball team and also mentors the graduate assistant’s program.
“Randi is a combination of professional and mother to her athletes – she cares that much about them as, not only a patient, but as a person,” said co-worker Lana Loken, athletic training clinical education coordinator and professor of athletic training. “Randi’s ability to organize and get things done is amazing. We never have to worry about having the supplies and equipment available to provide the best care for our athletes. She makes our jobs easier.”
She and her husband, Charlie, live in White Lake and have three children, Jaxon, Keaton and Loagon.
