DWU now offering principal and ENL endorsements for teachers

Dakota Wesleyan University will now offer two additional concentrations in the Master of Arts in Education program: English as a New Language (ENL) and K-12 Principal.

Both new programs focus on meeting the needs of rural South Dakota schools, by providing relevant coursework central for teachers transitioning to administration positions or looking to improve education practices for non-English speaking students.

“Providing educators the tools they need to effectively educate English Learners in our state is a necessity,” said M.Ed. Coordinator, Melissa Weber. “Teacher leaders will leave DWU’s program with the knowledge and skills needed to not only best serve the needs of English Learners, but also lead instructional training for teachers and facilitate collaboration with families, schools and communities,” she said.

The K-12 Principal concentration provides current teachers the education and competencies needed to excel in leadership positions. Increases in administrative vacancies will lead to a high demand for principals, superintendents and other leadership roles in K-12 settings. These positions are often filled from within by teachers who have gone on to earn their Principal Endorsement.

DWU’s 100% online Master of Arts in Education degree will help propel your career to the next level, while providing significant advantages in a broad range of education settings.

DWU currently offers the ENL endorsement program in collaboration with the SD Title III Consortium.  For more information about DWU’s Master of Arts in Education program, visit
