DWU students collect for food pantry

Dakota Wesleyan University students will be knocking on doors this Sunday to collect nonperishable food items for the Mitchell Area Food Pantry.

As part of DWU’s annual New Student Orientation this weekend, all new DWU students, along with upperclassman leaders, will be collecting items by going door to door in Mitchell neighborhoods on Sunday, August 18, from 12:30 to 2 p.m.

Mitchell residents will know DWU students by their blue DWU T-shirts. Residents who are not home during this time, but wish to donate, are invited to place food items in grocery bags near their front door for pick up.

Classes at DWU begin on Monday, Aug. 19. The annual Welcome Fest, another freshman-oriented event, will be from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21, in the DWU Sherman Center.
