Mitchell Kernels, George McGovern and the call to public service is the theme for a Leadership South Dakota and Dakota Wesleyan University panel discussion on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The keynote speakers are Mitchell natives, Steve Erpenbach, Steve Hildebrand, Steve Jarding and Steve Kinsellsa, — described as the “four Steves.” All speakers share a rich history and are key South Dakota figures who have devoted their professional lives to public service at the state and national levels.
“As we enter our sixth year of the program, it’s great for past members to get together and share their experiences,” said Leadership SD Program Director, Rick Melmer. “This year’s alumni event is even more exciting thanks to this speaker lineup.”
“This is going to be a great, impactful evening full of insights and stories about the past, present and future of South Dakota politics,” said event moderator, Vernon Brown. “It’s not often that you get this many political legends in a room together, so we didn’t want to limit the evening event to Leadership South Dakota Alumni.”
Activities for Leadership South Dakota alumni will begin at 1 p.m. Site tours at the Abbott House and Vantage Point Systems will be available, as well as other alumni activities. Dinner will be held at 6:30 p.m. with the keynote event: “Four Steves: Kernels, George McGovern, and the Call to Public Service,” to follow at 7:15 p.m. in the DWU Sherman Center.
Registration is required. There is no cost for members of the Leadership South Dakota alumni network, or DWU President’s Circle members to attend the dinner and panel discussion. Tickets for non-Leadership South Dakota alumni network members and the general public are $25 per person. For more information, click here.
