Longtime staff member and beloved member of the community, Carol Weiss, will be retiring from Dakota Wesleyan University after an impressive 33-year career.
Weiss joined DWU in 1987 and has graciously served the university over the course of three decades as a dedicated member of the DWU business office.
“Words cannot begin to express the positive impact that Carol Weiss has had on the DWU community,” said DWU Executive Vice President Theresa Kriese. “To put together a decorated career of 33 years as she has and establish the relationships and connections she has along the way is simply remarkable. Her service to the university has touched literally thousands of students, faculty, staff and alumni. We will miss Carol, and her ongoing commitment and dedication to our students and this university.”
Weiss’ name repeatedly comes up in talks with alumni, current students and friends of the university.
“Being a transfer student, there are tons of small details that go into processing credits, tuition, and scholarships, and Carol was a huge help from the second I sent my paperwork over to Dakota Wesleyan,” said 2020 DWU grad and current MBA student, Tristan Teichmeier. “Another thing about Carol was her open-door policy. Her office door was always open for students to walk in and talk about all the confusing details regarding the money side of paying for college, which she somehow seemed to get figured out within 10 minutes.”
When talking about Weiss, members of the campus community are always quick to highlight one thing – her infectious smile. After speaking with Weiss and asking what she cherishes the most, it seems that is a two-way street.
“Smiles – something so small but it means so much. No matter if students were walking down the hallway in front of the business office or giving me a high-five at the football or basketball games, those smiles made my day,” said Weiss.
